Hey, I’m Shaun.
I’m here to share my Notes from the Road to try and help us all figure things out in 2026.
Alexander is my middle name, and Shaun Alex came about because when I first travelled to Brazil, my friends couldn’t pronounce my name, so they gave me the nickname ‘shaunalex’ as a name they could just about pronounce.
I am from Edinburgh in Scotland, and spend as much time as possible getting out there, seeing places and meeting people. In recent times, that has seen me spend a great deal of time in the USA in particular, following an unexpected invitation to America. More about that in a moment.

In 2014, having worked as a journalist in my early 20s, I picked up a video camera and started to film things, taking inspiration from other vloggers I admired.
I filmed my travels, the things I saw and the people I met - posting them on my ‘shaunvlog’ YouTube channel.
Then, in 2017, I was invited by the United States Embassy to London, to go on a tour of the USA called ‘Exploring American Values’.
This trip opened my mind, kick starting a personal love affair with the United States which burns bright inside me until today, and serves as an anchor for my content.
Through this Newsletter, I will be sharing my experiences and thoughts that I hope you will find interesting, amusing, and perhaps curious.
